How many states did Ronald Reagan win in the 1984 election?

As a child living in the '80s, I never really understood who Ronald Reagan was other than the dude the creepy-looking puppet I'd see on MTV sometimes was based on and some guy that kind of looked like my grandpa.
But if you're talking about the 1980s, then, well, Reagan was a part of it. The 40th President served from 1981 to 1989, essentially bogarting the entire decade for himself. I've also heard that he was at one point a famous actor, which had absolutely zero bearing on my childhood, so stop telling me that.
2024 marks 40 years since Reagan ran for re-election — we already know that he won, but how many states did he carry in the 1984 election?

Correct Answer: 49
The answer is: 49. Regan's reelection bid was wildly successful, considering the only state he didn't carry was the home state of his rival, Walter Mondale — who only won Minnesota by an extremely narrow 0.18% margin.Reagan also carried 58.8% of the popular vote and earned the largest electoral college share since 1820.Source
