
Teeth are extremely strange if you stop to think about it. They’re like bones but not actually bones, just pop up out of your mouth, and babies are born with teeth already in their heads. As soon as you’re born, your body basically starts growing new teeth that will eventually replace those baby ones. Scientists still aren’t exactly sure what the mechanism is that pushed them up.
So yeah… weird.
They’re also pretty darn handy. Biting, cutting, chewing — teeth are critical for all of those activities. We go to great lengths to take care of them, and personally I’m glad we do, because I probably would have died of some stupid cavity back in the caveman days.
