Agnetha, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny, and Anni-Frid are just four unassuming Swedes who happen to make up the acronym (and palindrome) ABBA.
Breaking out in 1974 as Sweden's first winner of the Eurovision Song Contest, the group has since become one of the best-selling of all time with over 400 million records sold worldwide — and counting. They even had their own movie in 1977, aptly titled ABBA: The Movie.
Not only that, you can actually see them in concert right now, in London. Well, you can see holographic representations of them as they were in the '70s, but still, that's pretty damn cool.
If you're a U.S. fan of this musical powerhouse, how many times did you get a chance to see them on tour?
▼
The answer is: 1. ABBA took some time to gain the same amount of interest in the U.S. compared to Europe and other parts of the world, meaning that by the time they essentially dissolved in 1982, there was only a brief window for a full-fledged tour of the USA and Canada. In September of 1979, they embarked on their one and only tour of North America. They pretty much hated the whole process and even had to cancel a date due to Agnetha Fältskog's emotional distress during one of the flights.Source
