How many times has an Oscar category had a tie?

That's right, I'm doing back-to-back Oscar trivia. I wasn't planning on it, but last night's Best Live-Action Short Film category had a tie, and now I have to update my notes. Blame the Academy. How many times has an Oscar category had a tie?
▼
Correct Answer: 7
(Source)The very first Oscar "tie" was in 1932 and wasn't even a real tie, but the rule at the time said if you came within three votes of the winner, you both got a trophy (this was dumb). Since then, there have been six ACTUAL ties (but hey, Wallace Beery did go home with an award in 1932 so the answer is seven). The most famous tie was Barbra Streisand's Best Actress win in 1969, along with her iconic "Hello, gorgeous" to her statue. I'm happy for the winners, but the tie did cause absolute mayhem for my Oscar viewing party's prediction game.
