How much did Barbenheimer combined make at the box office?

First of all, if there isn’t already a metal band named Barbenheimer, I’m calling dibs. Second of all, it felt like all you heard about last summer was the cinematic event of the century when Greta Gerwig’s Barbie and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer were scheduled to hit theaters at the same time.
If it hadn’t been for a bit of contention, that event may have never even happened. After originally agreeing to a deal with Warner Bros., Nolan announced in the fall of 2021 that Oppenheimer would actually be released under a new deal by Universal. Shortly thereafter, Universal announced that Barbie would be releasing in direct competition with Nolan’s film.
Whatever the reason, it worked. Both films were monster successes, despite the fact that they have basically nothing in common besides the release timing. Since we spent a whole summer mashing up the movie titles, let’s mash up their box office results too.
How much money did the almighty Barbenheimer pull in?

Correct Answer: $2.4 billion
The answer is: $2.4 billion. You could argue Barbie “won” the box office with $1.4 billion in worldwide gross box office revenue, but for a super long movie about a scientist and death, Oppenheimer’s $957 million haul is pretty damn impressive. Together they pulled in $2,403,313,991. I’m glad they got that final $1 tallied.Source
