How much did Lorne Michaels offer the Beatles to reunite on SNL?

Promoter Bill Sargent offered the Beatles tens of millions of dollars to reunite in 1976, and they turned it down. "Saturday Night Live" had nowhere near that kind of budget, but creator Lorne Michaels figured what the hell. From the SNL desk during the show's first season, he held up a real NBC certified check made out to "The Beatles." How much money did Michaels offer the Beatles to reunite on SNL?
▼
Correct Answer: $3,000
(Source)Of all the people watching SNL that night, Lennon and McCartney were actually tuned in together. They watched as Michaels broke down a $3,000 offer song by song. He even added that the band could give Ringo less if they wanted. The duo almost got up and grabbed a cab, but they decided to enjoy a night off. Seven months later, George Harrison turned up and claimed his quarter share of $750. Ringo did eventually host SNL in 1984, but it was while Michaels wasn't running the show, so he's still waiting to collect.
