"The Bionic Woman" is a spin-off of which show?

Spin-offs usually happen because a character becomes too popular to stay on one show. "The Bionic Woman" happened because ABC introduced Jaime Sommers and killed her off in the same arc, and fans were up in arms. Six months later, the network brought her back from the dead, and "The Bionic Woman" became one of the first female-led superhero shows in prime time. Which show introduced Jaime Sommers of "The Bionic Woman" before angry letters forced her resurrection?

Correct Answer: The Six Million Dollar Man
(Source)ABC had a simple plan. Bring back Steve Austin's childhood sweetheart for a two-part episode of "The Six Million Dollar Man," give audiences a tearjerker ending, and move on. Lindsay Wagner took the part of Jaime Sommers as a birthday present for her younger sister. She showed up, gave audiences a tearjerker ending, but fans couldn't just move on. The network spent months getting buried in hate mail and hearing about children needing therapy, then begged Wagner to come back. "The Bionic Woman" was rushed into production so quickly that early episodes just recycled "Six Million Dollar Man" scripts with the names swapped out. The first season only had 13 episodes, and it still beat out "The Six Million Dollar Man" in the overall season ratings.
