What controversial rapper says Akira is one of their favorite movies of all time?

When you think of classic anime, there's no question that Akira is one of the first things to come to mind. If it's not, well, what the hell?
The seriously mind-bending movie is quintessential cyberpunk wrapped inside some of the best animation ever put to screen. It has inspired a litany of filmmakers and writers ever since it came out in 1988 — and apparently at least one prominent rapper, too.
Which of these, ahem, problematic rappers loves Akira?

The answer is: Kanye West. Kanye West, aka Ye, has said for years that one of his favorite movies of all time is the 1988 anime classic Akira. Kanye paid direct homage to the film in his music video for “Stronger” and has said that the movie has been the biggest creative inspiration in his career. The only movie he says he likes as much as Akira? Paul Thomas Anderson’s There Will Be Blood.Source
