
It was shocking to me when I found out that Labyrinth wasn’t a box office smash. At least not in America, where it essentially bombed. But it found success abroad, I guess just because they're more sophisticated over there.
It’s a shame that his more experimental explorations didn’t really get the big public reception they deserved while Jim Henson was still alive. And imagine what the dude would do with the digital tools we have today.
He was one of those people who was simply brimming with creativity. It was inevitable that he would end up becoming the worldwide master of puppets — or was it? Before his big breakthrough came in the form of Sesame Street, he was considering doing something totally different. What was it?

Jim Henson worked for years on the concept of Cyclia, a futuristic dome-shaped nightclub where films would project onto the walls, floor, and even dancers, all in sync with the music.As noted in the Disney+ documentary, Jim Henson: Idea Man, around the same time he was preparing to move forward on actually creating the club, he received the offer to work on Sesame Street. I mean, I’m sure his creativity would have translated to anything, but I’m glad things went the way they did.Source
