You've probably flipped past C-SPAN a thousand times without registering what you saw. I don't think the camera has even moved since it launched under President Carter in 1979. What does C-SPAN stand for?
▼
Correct Answer: Cable-Satellite Public Affairs Network
(Source)Al Gore (probably) didn't invent the internet, but he did technically launch C-SPAN. The very first words broadcast on the network came from a 30-year-old Congressman Gore on March 19, 1979. The cable industry created the Cable-Satellite Public Affairs Network as a nonprofit to give Americans unedited coverage of Congress without commentary or spin. It started with just four employees and a $450,000 budget. Over 45 years later, it's still the most effective insomnia cure on cable.
