Everyone knows Goku at this point even if you’ve never watched or read Dragon Ball. This guy’s so popular he’s even had a balloon at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade! What most people don’t know is that Goku isn’t actually a human.
Turns out you have to be from another planet if you want to be able to turn your hair different colors just by screaming hard enough. I wish someone had told me that when I was a kid, but I’m sure I only did minor damage to my throat.
When Goku crash-landed on Earth as a baby, he was given a new name by the nice old man who found him, but when more of his race showed up we learned that he had an entirely different name at birth. He never really used it, but what is Goku’s real name?

The answer is: Kakarot. It was a very late plot twist to learn that our beloved monkey-boy Goku wasn’t actually just some freak of nature born with a tail but an actual alien. Just like Superman, this is one of those situations where aliens just happen to look exactly like humans but are really good at fighting. Saiyans also have names based on vegetables, which is why Goku’s real name is Kakarot, aka Carrot. I guess that explains his love for orange uniforms.Source
