What is the highest value a Pokémon card has ever sold for?

Every time I see a story about some collectible that someone just found in their basement and then sold for a fortune I head to the attic and start digging through my old trading cards. So far, that approach still hasn’t yielded me any results.
The Pokémon card craze was something that I completely missed out on. First hitting the market in 1996, they’ve become one of the world’s most sought after forms of collectibles. I’d say every kid has a binder full of them, but hell, most adults do too.
And for good reason — there are some cards out there that are worth some serious cash. An unopened box from 1996 alone goes for hundreds of thousands of dollars. There’s also the game you can play, of course, but who cares about that when you can get money out of it?
Gotta collect ‘em all, I guess. What was the highest value someone has shelled out to get their hands on a Pokémon card?

Correct Answer: $5 million
The answer is: $5 million. If you need a reason to hate Logan Paul, we’ve got one for you — back in 2022, he coughed up approximately $5.275 million to get his hands on the ultra-rare Illustrator Pikachu with the highest grading of 10. Technically he paid $4 million in cash plus a PSA 9 Illustrator Pikachu that he already had. He had it put in a case embedded with diamonds, so yeah, hate away.Source
