What is the name of Julia Roberts’ character in “Pretty Woman”?

I don't blame Michelle Pfeiffer, Daryl Hannah, Meg Ryan, and Molly Ringwald for passing on the original script. While we've all come to love the happy ending, the original plan was to make a gritty drama that ended with Edward throwing Vivian out of his car. But that was before Disney bought the movie and sprinkled some of its fairy-tale magic onto the script. They still made Roberts re-audition for the role of Vivian Ward, but she won a Golden Globe and became "America's Sweetheart." You could say she got her own fairy-tale ending.
