What name did the band Chicago originally record under?

The 1970 Best New Artist Grammy ballot was stacked with Led Zeppelin, Crosby, Stills & Nash (who took the trophy), and a seven-piece horn-rock outfit from Chicago. Six weeks before the trophy was handed out, the Chicago band's follow-up album had hit shelves with an updated name for the group. What name did the band Chicago originally record under?
▼
Correct Answer: Chicago Transit Authority
(Source)Admittedly, keeping the name they used when they were just a small-time cover band, The Big Thing, might've been the simpler (and smarter) choice. After releasing their self-titled debut album, the actual Chicago Transit Authority threatened legal action. The band shortened to Chicago, but the debut LP kept its original credit and charted for 171 weeks, breaking the rock record set by the Beatles' "White Album." Third, technically second and a half, time was the charm.
