Travolta brought the moves himself, pitching the Batman, the Swim, and the Hitchhiker after arguing Tarantino out of doing just the twist for the whole song. Tarantino dad-danced behind the camera while Travolta and Thurman switched on cue. Chuck Berry's "You Never Can Tell" gave Tarantino the French New Wave feel he wanted, while Duchess, the white cat from Disney's "The Aristocats," inspired Thurman's twist.
