Tony Danza strutted into living rooms across America in 1984 as Tony Micelli, a Brooklyn tough guy turned Connecticut housekeeper. The premise was that this ex-jock could cook, clean, and raise kids better than most moms. What sport did Tony play before he became the housekeeper on "Who's the Boss?"
▼
Correct Answer: Baseball
(Source)Tony Micelli was a former second baseman for the St. Louis Cardinals whose playing days got cut short by a shoulder injury. After his baseball career ended and his wife died, Tony became a single dad who learned to cook and clean out of necessity. When he needed steady work to support his daughter, he took a housekeeper job in Connecticut to give her a better life than Brooklyn could offer. Tony Danza brought real athletic credibility to the role with his 8-3 professional boxing record in the middleweight division from 1976 to 1979. When Tony reminisced about his baseball glory days on screen, Danza knew exactly what it felt like to have your sports dreams derailed.
