What town is the TV show "Little House on the Prairie" set in?

Michael Landon's "Little House on the Prairie" transported viewers back to the 1870s, where the Ingalls family carved out their life on the frontier with nothing but grit, family values, and Pa's endless optimism. What town was "Little House on the Prairie" set in?
▼
Correct Answer: Walnut Grove
(Source)Unlike the books the show is based on, the TV version of the Ingalls family lives on a farm near Walnut Grove, Minnesota. Walnut Grove is a real place that still exists today in Redwood County, and the original homesite averages 10,000 visitors per year. The show actually filmed far from Minnesota at Big Sky Movie Ranch in Simi Valley, California. And don't forget what happened to Walnut Grove at the end of "Little House: The Last Farewell" when Michael Landon had the entire Walnut Grove set blown up as a final goodbye to the show. If it's any consolation, the real Walnut Grove in Minnesota keeps the legacy alive with a yearly pageant depicting the family and narrated by an actress playing Laura herself.
