This group of goofballs began letting us into their inner circle nearly 30 years ago, premiering in 1994. It was a massive cultural and television hit. Just say "Ross & Rachel" in a crowd and someone nearby will start giving you their take.

The answer is: Six of One. When the creators of Friends first started conceiving of the show, they actually called it Insomnia Cafe. Not a terrible title by any means, but once things got closer to reality, they tossed around several new names, including Six of One.I'd say the title they went with was definitely a bit more straightforward and may have had a little something to do with the show's success — going 10 seasons and 236 episodes.Source
