What was the original title of the TV show "Ellen"?

The most famous episode of "Ellen" is "The Puppy Episode," but not because of any cute baby dogs. The show was never supposed to be a history-making series. Hell, it wasn't even supposed to be a star vehicle for Ellen DeGeneres. What was "Ellen" originally called during its first season?

Correct Answer: These Friends of Mine
(Source)The year 1994 saw ABC and NBC playing a game of chicken for shows with "friends" in the title. When ABC launched "These Friends of Mine," NBC had to scrap the working title for its upcoming show, "Friends Like Us." But NBC's new title, "Friends," and its juggernaut ratings meant ABC was the last one to blink. It also didn't help that critics called "These Friends of Mine" a "Seinfeld" ripoff. The newly rechristened "Ellen" recentered the whole thing around DeGeneres, dropped characters with no explanation, and landed in the top 20 best-rated programs for the 1994-95 season. Guess she didn't need those friends of hers.
