What year do they travel to in Back to the Future Part III?

I have to say, it's pretty gutsy to film two movies in a franchise back-to-back. But that's exactly what Robert Zemeckis and company did with Back to the Future, filming parts II and III in succession and releasing them just six months apart.
Since both made hundreds of millions of dollars at the box office, I guess the gamble paid off.
If you're anything like me, you certainly saw BTTF3 in theaters when it came out in 1990, but that was probably it. Putting Marty in the Old West had its moments, and both Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd rose to the occasion, bringing all they had to their respective performances, but bumping into essentially the same characters (including, yes, even an ancestor of Biff's) with essentially the same story arc just didn't have the same rewatch appeal as the other movies in the series.
Which means while you probably have a vague sense of the timeframe the third installment in this iconic film franchise takes place, this one might not come as easily as a sports bet when you have an almanac from the future. What year do Marty McFly and Doc Brown travel to in Back to the Future Part III?

The answer is: 1885. Even though there's no logical reason for it, apparently once Doc Brown has invented time travel they only go to years ending with a 5. And to keep it even more tidy, in Part III Doc travels exactly 100 years into the past from the year all this craziness got started — 1885.Doc and his new family eventually turn a train into a time machine (less cool that the DeLorean, tbh) and head off to an unknown time. In other words, there's still a chance for that next sequel!Source
