The unicorn craze was huge in the '80s and '90s. They showed up in cartoons, fantasy novels, tabletop games, and just about everything Lisa Frank sold at the mall. If you throw wings onto that enchanted horse it morphs into something else entirely. What's the name for a unicorn once it has a set of wings?
▼
Correct Answer: Alicorn
An alicorn is the name for a winged unicorn, merging the unicorn’s magic with the flying awesomeness of a pegasus. Though folks imagine it's as ancient as mythology itself, the term "alicorn" really took off in popularity after Pier Anthony's 1984 book "Bearing an Hourglass." Immediately after that you could catch alicorns galloping across the sky in "She-Ra: Princess of Power" and the My Little Pony universe.
