Between the bell-bottoms, butterfly collars, and astroturf backyard, "The Brady Bunch" defined 1970s family sitcom style. But among all nine human Brady household members, one furry friend padded through those California ranch house halls. So what was the name of the Brady family's beloved pooch?

The answer is: Tiger

Before Greg's groovy attic pad or Marcia's football-flattened nose, there was Tiger – the shaggiest member of "The Brady Bunch" who joined the family in episode one, "The Honeymoon." While Mike brought three boys and Carol brought three girls, they all brought one lovably scruffy mutt who had a knack for stealing scenes.

Tiger's greatest hits included crashing Carol and Mike's wedding photos (apparently not a fan of formal wear), sparking an epic boys-versus-girls custody battle in "A Clubhouse Is Not a Home," and turning Alice's meticulously planned Japanese garden into his personal playground. Somewhere between teaching responsibility and creating chaos, Tiger managed to give the newly-blended Brady bunch something they could all agree on: dogs make everything better.

Fun fact: There were actually two different dogs playing Tiger before the show quietly retired the role after season two. But Tiger's doghouse became the most reliable background actor in TV history, appearing in practically every backyard scene throughout the series. The empty doghouse might be TV's earliest example of stealth home staging – all the charm of having a family pet without actually needing to feed it.

In the end, Tiger proved that sometimes the best family therapy comes with four legs and a wagging tail. He gave the Brady kids something to bond over besides their shared bathroom drama and those eye-searing orange-and-green kitchen walls. Though to be fair, even a color-blind dog probably had opinions about that kitchen.
