What’s the name of the fictional town where The Lost Boys takes place?

Before Joel Schumacher got his hands on The Lost Boys, vampires were frankly kind of unfairly depicted as nothing more than old dudes who sleep in coffins. Released in 1987, the vampire cult classic finally showed us that bloodsuckers could be cool and sexy. Well, at least by late ‘80s standards.
It was also one of the best, if not THE best, times that Corey Feldman and Corey Haim acted alongside one another. Not to put the rest of the cast down or anything, because this is one of the strongest ensemble casts you’ll find for pretty much any movie, but there’s nothing quite like seeing those two onscreen in the exuberance of their youth.
In the film, brothers Michael and Sam move to a new town with their recently divorced mother. What’s the name of the fictional town they move to?

Correct Answer: Santa Carla
The answer is: Santa Carla. Although it was mostly filmed in the real northern California location of Santa Cruz, 1987’s The Lost Boys is set in the fictional town of Santa Carla.Filmmakers didn’t want to give the real town a needlessly spooky reputation, but Santa Cruz still gained notoriety as a place with unknown disappearances that earned it the nickname The Murder Capital of the World. Locals blame this unsavory title on the legacy of The Lost Boys.Source
