The plot of The Last Starfighter, released in 1984, makes a lot of sense to me.
In the movie, Alex Rogan is a humble teen living in a trailer park, hungry for something more. The only thing he seems to excel at is the one arcade game in the trailer park.
But when he becomes the top scorer, some space guy named Centauri shows up to tell him it's all real — the plot of the game, with the evil armada and the pilots who defend against it, all real. And Alex has just proven that he may become one of the greatest pilots the galaxy has ever seen.
This is where it really clicks for me, since I assume this same kind of thing is going to happen to me with every video game I play. So far I'm about 0-999, but there's still time.
Which game was Alex so good at, he was recruited by the Rylan Star League?

The answer is: Starfighter. The arcade game that turns out to be a training program for Alex is aptly named, Starfighter. It more or less looks like a copy of the original Star Wars arcade game, which is fine with me.Source
