When the Windows operating system took off in the ‘90s, Microsoft accounted for 90% of the OS market share on personal computers. They still boast over 70% market share. And they’ve never stopped moving forward. Setting Clippy aside for a moment, they changed the game with work-related software with Microsoft Word and the ensuing suite of office products. And after helping to initiate the personal computing revolution, they’ve jumped into video games, artificial intelligence, and more.
As of March 2024, Microsoft’s annual revenue was $236.584 billion.
