Which 1994 sports broadcast was interrupted by the O.J. Simpson chase?

It’s kind of mind-blowing to think about just how big the events surrounding O.J. Simpson in the mid-1990s were. We tuned in to watch the trial in class, if that tells you anything.
In a largely pre-internet era, and certainly pre-social media, the possibility of being able to immediately cover events in real-time all across the world was still new. And our obsession with celebrities and true crime collided in a big way with the new media landscape when O.J. Simpson hopped in the back of a white Ford Bronco and had his friend drive him down the highway as an army of police cars slowly followed behind.
Soon enough, there was an army of news helicopters in the air following the whole thing, and people across the country became glued to their TV sets, watching the live coverage. It became such a major event that one national network even interrupted a major sporting event to show the chase. Which event was it?

The answer is: The NBA Finals. The New York Knicks and Houston Rockets were tied in the NBA Finals with two games a piece, and were in the middle of Game 5 when the unprecedented media event of O.J. Simpson slowly fleeing police went viral. In some places, they cut away completely, while most NBC affiliates used a split-screen format, with the game taking up a smaller portion of the screen with the commentary muted in favor of live coverage from Tom Brokaw. It’s estimated that 95 million people watched the chase unfold.Source
