Which artist has the best-selling country album of all time?

Country music has produced some absolutely massive sellers over the decades. You've got legends like Johnny Cash with his timeless storytelling, Dolly Parton with her crossover appeal, and more recent superstars who managed to bridge country and pop in ways that made executives everywhere very, very happy. But when it comes to pure numbers, one album towers above all the rest like a ten-gallon hat at a dinner party. Which artist has the best-selling country album of all time?
▼
Correct Answer: Shania Twain
(Source)Shania Twain absolutely crushed it with "Come On Over," which moved more than 40 million copies worldwide. Released in November 1997, the record also happens to be the biggest-selling studio album by any female artist in music history. Twain teamed up with producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange, who also happened to be her husband at the time, and together they crafted a sound that somehow managed to keep one boot in Nashville while the other danced straight into pop radio. The album spawned massive hits that were impossible to escape like "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!" and "That Don't Impress Me Much." Twain spent over a year at number one on the country charts with this thing, and it became the soundtrack to the late '90s for millions of people who probably couldn't tell you the difference between a banjo and a mandolin but knew every single word to "You're Still the One."
