Which John Hughes movie didn’t have enough room in the budget for air conditioning?
John Hughes is one of the best, most-respected, and most-successful movie directors out there. If Bill Paxton transforming into a disgusting, flatulent blob in Weird Science doesn't prove so, I don't know what else to tell you.
He surely still had many more great movies up his sleeve if we hadn't lost him at the age of 59 in 2009.
So when one thinks of his movies, one would assume that budget was never really an issue. Yet when it came to this classic movie, they didn't even have enough in the coffers to use air conditioning.
Like your mom trying to save a few bucks, John Hughes was literally making his cast sweat. Which of his movies was it?

Correct Answer: Sixteen Candles
The answer is: Sixteen Candles. Sixteen Candles, John Hughes’ directorial debut, was operating on such a tight budget that they didn’t have the money to air condition the gym, resulting in a space that was over 100 degrees at the time of filming. It was so hot that Haviland Morris had to change dresses between takes due to being soaked in sweat. Source
