Which movie won Best Picture at the 1985 Academy Awards?

To begin, let’s have a quick refresher on how the Academy Awards work — the ceremony is usually early in the year and gives out awards for the movies that came out the year before. So when looking at award recipients for 1985, what we’re really talking about here is movies that came out in 1984.
Which was a pretty special year in terms of the cinema. "Ghostbusters," "The Karate Kid," "Gremlins" — these would have been some of my picks to be nominated for Best Picture that year. Alas, I’m not a member of “the Academy”, whose members seem to gravitate towards straight dramatic films, outside of the occasional outlier.

The answer is: Amadeus. The period biographical drama Amadeus kind of dominated the Oscars in 1985, with the rare accomplishment of two of the film’s actors both being nominated for Best Actor (and one of them, F. Murray Abraham, winning it). It also took home the award for Best Picture. Let’s be honest, Splash was robbed that year.Source
