Be honest, when was the last time you recited the order of the planets from the Sun by memory — AND got it right? For me, roughly second grade.
Of course, by today's standards, I would have got it wrong anyway — you see, in those days we included Pluto. Today, Pluto's status has been degraded to dwarf planet, of which there are four more: Ceres, Makemake, Haumea, and Eris.
So among the remaining eight "real" planets, one of them runs a bit warm, even out there in the generally cold expanse of outer space.
Which planet in our solar system runs the highest temps?

Correct Answer: Venus
The answer is: Venus. If you thought being closer to the sun would make a planet hotter, well, you’re kind of right (which is another way to say wrong). Mercury might be snuggling up to the sun, but since it has no atmosphere, it only hits 800 degrees Fahrenheit. Compared to Venus, which is over 30 million miles further away, it edges out Mercury at around 864 degrees. When we’re talking numbers that high, though, what difference is 64 degrees when you’re going to be a cartoon roasted chicken the second you get there?Source
