Which Star Wars characters make a cameo in Raiders of the Lost Ark?

When you hear the words "George Lucas", you probably think of two things: Star Wars and Indiana Jones. If you think of anything else first, well, that's weird.
But fans of Spielberg-Lucas quantum entanglement go especially nuts whenever you bring up the first Indiana Jones movie, Raiders of the Lost Ark. That's because of an Easter egg that is truly mind-blowing the first time you see it: a cameo from two Star Wars characters. What does it all mean??
Before you answer that, see if you remember which characters those were.

Correct Answer: R2-D2 and C-3PO
The answer is: R2-D2 and C-3PO. Just as Dr. Jones is opening up the sarcophagus that contains the ark, a hieroglyph to his right (the viewer's left) comes into sharper contrast than all the others. It's C3PO and R2-D2. My theory? The "long, long time ago" was during the time of ancient Egypt, and the "far, far away" was a galaxy reached by... that's right, a Stargate. Boom.Source
