Who sings the theme song for "The Jeffersons"?

"Well we're movin' on up, to the East Side..." "The Jeffersons" theme song has been stuck in heads for 51 years, and it's still getting airtime in commercials and sporting events. The show ran for 11 seasons, and I'm not saying it's because of the opening, but it certainly helped! Who sings the theme song for "The Jeffersons"?

Correct Answer: Ja'Net DuBois
(Source)The first time Norman Lear heard "Movin' on Up" he knew he had his hit, and was almost shocked at how perfectly it captured what he wanted. I don't know why he was surprised. Jeff Barry, the guy behind "Be My Baby," "Chapel of Love," and "Sugar, Sugar," co-wrote it with Ja'Net DuBois, who was already playing Willona Woods on Lear's other sitcom "Good Times." DuBois sang it herself, alongside Oren Waters and a 35-member gospel choir pulled from churches. Years later, DuBois said she wrote it dreaming of the day she could move her mother into a deluxe apartment (in the sky).
