If you're a fan of the Avengers, you have DC's Justice League to thank — following the success of the superhero team's comics, Stan Lee's boss basically told him to get cranking on his own version. And voila, the Avengers were born.
But that was like 60 years ago. In 1963 the very first Avengers comic book came out. Since then they've cycled through seemingly endless iterations between comics, film, video games, and basically any other medium in existence.

Correct Answer: Captain America
The answer is: Captain America. Yeah, the “first Avenger” was not even a true Avenger until the second wave! As comic-book nerds all know, The Avengers have gone through possibly hundreds of member rotations since being founded in 1963, but the original five members are not exactly the A-listers you might think of. Ant-Man, Iron Man, The Hulk, and Thor all have had major glow-ups since the movies, but Wasp? No offense, but what can the Wasp contribute to a team with a literal god on it?Source
