Who was the first person to be both the host and musical guest on "Saturday Night Live"?

Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t get why being the musical guest on "Saturday Night Live" is such a big deal. Honestly, the sound is traditionally pretty terrible, and since it’s live you can’t even do anything fun like swear or drink on stage. But I guess there are a lot of people watching, so there’s that.
With being a guest already being kind of a racket — I mean, you show up and just do their job for them, basically — I’m surprised someone would want to take on both guest host and musical guest, but that’s just me, apparently.

Correct Answer: Paul Simon
The answer is: Paul Simon. Paul Simon was the first to take on double duties at SNL back in 1975 — and he’s done it three more times since. But since his last stint in both slots in 1987, he’s stuck to just being a musical guest, appearing in that role as recently as 2018.Source
