It was shocking to me when I found out that Labyrinth wasn’t a box office smash. At least not in America, where it essentially bombed. But it found success abroad, I guess just because they're more sophisticated over there.
It’s a shame that his more experimental explorations didn’t really get the big public reception they deserved while Jim Henson was still alive. And imagine what the dude would do with the digital tools we have today.
