What does CHiPs stand for?
Spanning the transition from the 1970s into the '80s, CHiPs is one of the most lovable TV shows from that era. The action-comedy-drama ran for six seasons, 139 episodes, and one TV movie from 1977 to 1983.
Officer Francis ("Frank") Llewellyn "Ponch" Poncherello is fun-loving and free (and perenially on probationary status), while Jonathan ("Jon") Andrew Baker is more straight-laced and by the book. Both of them, however, rock the hell out of those tan uniforms.
They make for an incredibly effective duo, even though it seems like they almost always cause a pileup on the freeway. As member of CHiPs, they catch bad guy after bad guy, and are quick to offer a helping hand to citizens in need.
