If there's one episode out of any TV show's run that probably never gets rewatched, it's the finale. I mean, sure everyone watches the finale when it airs, but once things are in syndication, reliving the end just isn't that appealing. Unless you enjoy pain, in which case, hey do your thing.
It's hard to imagine in today's streaming world, but there was a time when the Super Bowl wasn't the only telecast family and friends would gather to watch live. Hell, people would get together on Saturday nights just to watch a regular episode of The Golden Girls, so when a finale for a big show was coming, it was essentially pandemonium.
Several TV finales seemingly shut the country down as we dialed in to find out how it would all go down, and it seems unlikely this record could ever fall in today's television landscape. Which show had the most-watched finale in history?

Correct Answer: M*A*S*H
The answer is: M*A*S*H. It’s been over 40 — that’s right 40! — years and the series finale for M*A*S*H remains the most-watched finale in TV history — in fact, it’s still the single most-watched TV episode of any kind. Yeah, things like sports can get above the 105.9 million viewer record (even though M*A*S*H beat the Super Bowl the year of its 1983 finale), but no other show can come close. Cheers is in a distant second with 84.4 million and Seinfeld is even further behind at 76.3 million. We doubt anything will come close again now that we have these fancy streaming services that let us watch finales whenever we want.Source
