The answer is: SG-1000. You probably have never heard of the SG-1000, but it did pretty OK for itself — albeit it, mostly only in Japan. Originally released in 1983, on the same day as the Famicom (aka the NES in America), it outperformed expectations and generated approximately $200 million in revenue.
