We all complained about commercials at the time, but now that they’re gone I think I kind of miss them. The over-the-top acting and blatant lies about the product were sometimes better than whatever trash we were watching. This was when marketers were willing to throw everything at the wall to see what stuck.
Now, except for maybe the Super Bowl, no one is watching live TV with commercials anymore. It’s all streaming that either has no ads or some boring insurance ones. I can’t remember the last time I saw a toy ad, which ticks me off because I’m finally an adult and no one can stop me from buying them!
While I might never know the last toy advertised on TV, we do know the first. Love them or hate them, all those dramatic and unrealistic toy commercials stemmed from this simple toy on an old black and white screen.
