Here are 5 things that happened on June 2 that matter to those of us who know what the best part of waking up is.
I.
Birthdays of honor: Kevin Feige (1973), Dana Carvey (1955), Wayne Brady (1972), AJ Styles (1977), Dennis Haysbert (1954), Lex Luger (1958), Charlie Watts (1941).
II.
Carpe diem, MFer. On this day in 1989 Dead Poets Society got teachers to stand on desks and rigid dads to open up their hearts.
III.
In 2004 Ken Jennings kicked off the first of his 74-game winning streak on Jeopardy!, not long after they removed the five-game champion limit. Jennings still holds the record by a long shot.
IV.
In 1692 the first person was tried for being a witch in Salem, Massachusetts. While I'm sure it was a very impartial and legitimate process, Bridget Bishop was found guilty and hanged for her crimes.
V.
Whitney Houston released her second album, simply called Whitney, on this day in 1987. It cemented her as a global pop star with four number one hits, including "I Wanna Dance With Somebody."
