Actor William Devane (1939) got an Emmy nomination playing John F. Kennedy in "The Missiles of October" and then settled in as Greg Sumner on "Knots Landing." He's played his share of people in charge since, from Secretary of Defense James Heller on "24" to the President in "The Dark Knight Rises," with Dr. Dix in the "Jesse Stone" movies and a stop in "Interstellar" along the way.
Director Werner Herzog (1942) built a cult following with "Aguirre, the Wrath of God" and took Best Director at Cannes for "Fitzcarraldo," which he pulled off by actually dragging a 320-ton steamship over a hill instead of faking it. He narrated and directed "Grizzly Man," showed up in the flesh as the Client on "The Mandalorian," and put out "Ghost Elephants" last year.
Actor Michael Keaton (1951) talked his way into a first starring role in "Night Shift," then landed "Beetlejuice" and a "Batman" casting that drew 50,000 protest letters from comic book fans. He picked up a Golden Globe for "Birdman," was in the "Spotlight" ensemble when it took Best Picture, got an Emmy for "Dopesick," and pulled the striped suit back on for "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice."
Actress Rose McGowan (1973) picked up an Independent Spirit Award nomination for "The Doom Generation" and played Tatum Riley in "Scream" before joining "Charmed" as Paige Matthews. She headlined "Planet Terror" as a go-go dancer who loses a leg and trades up to an assault rifle, published the memoir "Brave," and starred in the documentary series "Citizen Rose."
