Who shot J.R. on "Dallas"?

When you’re watching Netflix today and find yourself binge-watching an entire series without even realizing it, it’s probably because they’re so good at leaving every episode on a cliffhanger. And if we’re being real, Netflix owes everything they know about TV cliffhangers to the primetime soap opera, "Dallas."
To give you an idea of how successful this show was, it ran across three decades, beginning in the late ‘70s, dominating the ‘80s, and finally wrapping things up in 1991. And a reminder, we’re not talking about some daytime soap that’s just filling airtime, this was a prime Sunday evening slot on CBS.
But the height of the show’s brilliance, and its popularity, may have been after the show’s third-season finale, "A House Divided", when the villainous J.R. Ewing is shot by a mysterious figure — leaving the American viewing public to ponder and debate who did it.
A summer-long marketing campaign kept the entire country on the hook, and it wasn’t until the fourth episode of the fourth season that we finally found out who the attempted murderer really was, with 83 million viewers tuning in to find out.

Correct Answer: Kristin Shepard
The answer is: Kristin Shepard. Kristin Shepard, J.R.’s sister-in-law but also his mistress, was the one who pulled the trigger in a fit of lover’s rage. I don’t think I’m alone in saying J.R. kind of deserved it.Source
