What was The Doors' only #1 album?

The Doors were having a rough time in the studio. They'd burned through their stockpile of pre-written songs, producer Paul Rothchild was demanding dozens of takes for individual tracks, and Morrison was exactly the most reliable frontman. And yet, they managed to create a record that went to the top of the charts. What was The Doors' only number one album?

Correct Answer: Waiting for the Sun
(Source)The Doors had been tantalizingly close to total chart domination but never quite got there. Their legendary debut peaked at number 2, beaten by the Beatles, while "Strange Days" hit number 3. "Waiting for the Sun" finally broke through, becoming their only number one album and spending four weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 in 1968. The album hit number one the same week as "Hello, I Love You" topped the singles chart. Morrison had written those lyrics back in 1965 after watching some woman walk along Venice Beach, so at least his creepy people-watching finally paid off.
