The 1980s burger wars were brutal. Fast-food chains kept one-upping each other with bigger patties, special sauces, and increasingly elaborate gimmicks. Somewhere in the middle of all that competition, a dual-compartment container hit the market with a promise to keep the hot ingredients separate from the cold ones until you were ready to eat. Which '80s fast-food burger had the slogan "Keep the hot side hot, and the cool side cool"?

Correct Answer: McDonald's McDLT
(Source)If I can't unwrap my burger and eat it on the drive home, it's no longer fast food. I'm not interested in playing sandwich architect while wondering which maniac at McDonald's decided the McDLT's cheese is a cold ingredient.
When it launched in 1984, its ad campaign featured a soon-to-be-famous Jason Alexander singing and dancing while dressed like a Miami Vice extra, and another commercial that paired up Aretha Franklin and Jerry Butler. Unfortunately for McDonald's, not even the Queen of Soul could make people forget that the packaging used twice as much Styrofoam as any other burger (while being half as convenient), and the McDLT met a swift end in the early '90s.
